Accreditation
HCHPH has been a member of a state-wide group working to encourage and bring resources to local public health departments to achieve national public health accreditation. The group includes Linn County Public Health, the first county in Iowa to become nationally accredited, and an excellent role model.
Being accredited will assure that we are meeting the highest standards of community engagement, service delivery and resource management. It also makes us eligible for top standing in securing grants and contracts.
We have received two small grants. One to do a self-assessment of how far along we already are and what we have left to do. And, the second to help establish best practices in two critical areas supporting staff development and strategic planning.
We're on our way and found that we're actually further than we thought.
