Harrison County Home & Public Health Department Administrator

Join the Harrison County Home and Public Health Department (HCHPH), a local, community-based leader in promoting and protecting health and preventing disease for the residents of Harrison County, IA.

We work in 12 program areas with approximately 40 separate services and activities that address individual, family and community health needs throughout the lifespan.

HCHPH’s services and activities include immunizations, women’s health and family planning, maternal health, parents as teachers support services, child passenger safety seat checks, skilled nursing home health, epidemiology and disease surveillance, emergency preparedness and response as well as community health needs assessment and improvement planning.

HCHPH is committed to collaboration and community engagement as the primary way to involve the community as a whole, specific populations, healthcare providers, business and agricultural groups and elected officials in identifying health needs and strategies for mobilizing community support to meet them.

Position Summary

The Harrison County Home & Public Health Department Administrator will be responsible for the department’s strategic direction and for managing the department’s financial and human resources and day-to-day operations. The Department Administrator will keep the agency abreast of local, state and national trends and ensures agency is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Collaboration with community partners is a priority. This position reports to the Harrison County Board of Health. This is a full-time position with occasional long hours. Moderate travel related to regional and state meetings/conferences/trainings, community engagement and marketing.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health or Health Administration, or other related healthcare field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience reflecting leadership and management duties in public health.

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health or, Health Administration, or other related healthcare field, and a minimum of 2 years of experience reflecting leadership and management duties in public health.
